Ordering & Translation Decisions
The New Testament follows the ordering found in Codex Vaticanus, one of the oldest complete manuscripts of the Christian Bible, produced in the early 4th century and housed today in the Vatican Apostolic Library. This is not the order found in most modern Bibles, which typically place Paul's letters before the General Epistles.
In Codex Vaticanus, the General Epistles — James, Peter, John, and Jude — follow Acts directly, before Paul's letters. This reflects an older organizational logic that groups the letters of the Jerusalem apostles together rather than leading with Paul. It is a small change with significant theological implications for how a reader encounters the early church.
This volume is currently in production. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts have been typeset and compiled. The remaining 22 books are in progress.
